I'm James Kerr, a seasoned professional in the financial industry with over 35 years of dedicated experience. My journey from the world of performing arts to financial advising has shaped my unique approach to guiding individuals toward financial empowerment and security.
A Convergence of Passions
Before stepping into the realm of financial advising, I pursued a career in Opera and Theater Performance, earning a BFA from SUNY Purchase and an MM from The Juilliard School. The transition from the arts to finance was driven by my desire to help individuals orchestrate their financial lives and navigate the complexities of planning for the future.
Guiding Your Financial Journey
As an Assistant General Agent at National Life, my primary role is supporting a thriving team of Financial Advisors. I assist them in building and managing their practices in insurance, estate planning strategies, business planning, and retirement planning. Additionally, I actively engage with my own clientele in those same planning areas, earning their trust by prioritizing their needs and goals above all else.
Expertise and Specialization
While I maintain a diversified practice, my niche is assisting individuals in their 50s and 60s streamline their life and long-term care insurance needs and retirement plans. I take pride in my extensive education and qualifications in financial planning, having earned the Chartered Life Underwriter and the Chartered Financial Consultant designations from The American College. I am a Qualifying and Life Member of the Million Dollar Round Table,* an exclusive forum for successful life insurance and financial services professionals committed to providing exemplary client service while displaying the highest standards of ethics and professional knowledge, and a Lifetime recipient of NQA, the National Quality Award, reflecting high client persistency.
A Life Beyond Finance
I cherish my family life with my wife Carmen, whom I met at Conservatory, where she was studying as a classical pianist, and take immense pride in our four adult children, Tomas, Tiffany, Olivia, and Julia. Together, Carmen and I explore historic sites and enjoy hiking and cycling adventures across the Hudson Valley. I also nourish my interests in history, music, and community engagement through church activities. God bless America.
